Technology Day
As Gates Corporation step into a new century of innovations, the Centennial year was celebrated by its wholly owned subsidiary Gates India Pvt Ltd with a focus on technology and innovation the two building blocks of Gates. Technology Day and Mega Launch were two special events organized to mark the occasion on 3rd October, 2011.
First of its kind technology day by Gates India was showcased at JCB India Headquarters in Faridabad. It was appropriate occasion to be present at Gates India's largest customer where focus was on new offering by Gates, specifically the new product range of Megasys® Hose & Megacrimp couplings, Tubing Range and Quick Lock Couplings. The main aim of the technology day was to show case Gates capability as supplier and presenting all of the solutions and product portfolio we have to offer.
The inauguration of the Technology Day was done by Mr. Vipin Sondhi- MD & CEO, JCB India who also gave a brief introduction about the expectations from the technology day. Commercial viability of the technology while adding new features and enhanced performance from the equipments was the highlight of his speech. Mr. G. Sundraraman, Vice President Quality and Platform Engg expressed unique JCB India method of measuring value by ascertaining resale value of the backhoe at the end of the period. Mere meeting the warranty life is not enough, the extended life the customer get from the equipment decides the leadership position in the long term. Mr Subir Kumar Chaudhary, EVP (Business Head – BHL) and Mr Sanjeev Arora VP Engg also graced the occasion. A joint lamp lightening session by JCB & Gates team was followed by warm welcome by Mr. Jaideep Wadhwa, President –Tomkins (I&A). Recalling special relationship Gates have with JCB since the time Gates entered India, he reiterated Gates commitment to further this relationship in times to come. Mr. Rajesh C. Bhandari- Vice-President, Sales and Marketing recalled benefit of sharing technical know -how of hydraulics to improve customer satisfaction and repeat sales.
On this occasion several subject matter experts presented the in depth technology with Mr. Dave Douglass-Director Hydraulic Hose Capability and Mr. Matthew King-Director, Worldwide Hydraulic Product Development delivering presentations on Leak free Solutions and Hydraulic Hose assembly. Product Presentations were also given by Mr. Matin Elliot-Application Engineer – Tube Assembly and Mr. David Connie-Product Application Engineer who explained Quick lock & hybrids through a presentation cum discussion. The Presentation on Engine belts was given by Mr. Meenakshi Sundaram – GM Technical –GUIC and Mr Devang Sisodia- Application Engineer-GUIC.
Simultaneous exhibition of Gates product range facilitated first hand experience of the technological products by JCB team. Inaugurating the exhibition Mr. G. Sundraraman encouraged joint road shows to explain the end customers safe hydraulics and dos & don'ts to improve equipment performance. The day proved to be a fresh approach on use of technology for innovation by Gates and hence, progressing towards promising future.
The evening of the centennial was celebrated with The Mega Launch at The Claridges, Surajkund where Gates distinguished customers and dealers came together to be a part of the gala event. The Mega Launch marked the launch of Megasys Hose System which will now be domestically manufactured and its components Megasys hose and Megacrimp Coupling will be available across the country through our dealers. The Megasys Hose System is a leakfree range of hose system which suits as a perfect blend of technology and innovation. The uniqueness of Megasys® Hose system lies in the fact that it provides complete solutions. Megasys hoses are specialized Gates constant pressure hoses which last 3 times longer than any ordinary hose system. The superior technology of Megasys hoses is attributed to its High Impulse design, 1/3 SAE Bend radius, Leak free Fittings and abrasion resistant covers. Megasys® hoses are used with its exceptional partner the Megacrimp® couplings, these couplings have the Gates patented c- insert with bite the wire crimp for excellent coupling retention. This versatile coupling has a Full- Torque Nut TM design along with a full stem insertion and full length crimp. This coupling is also fully qualified by EN performance standards. The environmentally friendly Tuff Coat plating for 500% better corrosion resistance makes the use of any other coupling a compromise before Megacrimp Couplings. These Gates hoses and couplings make a special Gates interface technology which is unbeaten by anyone else in the industry.
After the successful launch of Megasys® Hose system for Original equipment manufacturers, Gates launched it in the Aftermarket on the occasion of Centennial. The Chief Guest of the Mega Launch was aptly selected in Mr. Jagjit Singh- founder Imperial Auto Industries and the largest channel partner for Gates India since the time Gates entered India. Mr Singh expressed satisfaction with this long association and encouraged other channel partner to avail the benefit of this relationship. The evening progressed with the product presentation by global experts along with the presentation on the Marketing Plan focused on Megasys by Mr. Rajesh C. Bhandari- Vice-President, Sales and Marketing. The evening was made interactive and lively by various centennial games planned especially for this occasion for which gifts were distributed among the audience who enjoyed an entertaining evening. Following the product launch was a unique Training Program for Dealers on 4th October, 2011 which enhanced the product knowledge and application.
