Error 1303: While installing or other installation problems
This error indicates that you do not have the correct rights to install Design Flex into the Program Files folder.
This documentation applies to Vista and XP SP2.
This error indicates that the user, or the installer running as"install", do not have rights to place files into the Program Files folder. This problem is usually caused by one of the following:
- The user does not really have full rights - administrator group membership only allows a user to do what an administrator has been allowed to do, and many IT/IS departments make users administrators, but remove many of the normal administrative rights.
- The user, or thier IT/IS department, or a purchased security software package have set up the Security Center to prevent installations from installing in the Program Files folder. If the Security Cernter is in use, one of the setting is to allow the user to run at lower rights, but then raise those rights while doing certain system tasks such as installing. When this is set, the "installing" group (name of group is set in the Security Center) needs to have the correct rights to do installs.
- This program has been installed - possibly as a prior verson - by another user and the current user does not have sufficient rights to over-write files installed by the other user. This often happens when the first install was done by a true administrator and the second install is then attempted by a more standard user who may have enough rights to install, but not to over-write files owned by another user.
- Note that the Design Flex Pro installation also requires two products to be installed from Microsoft - if they are not already installed. Both install into system folders, which may require additional rights.
In any of these cases, this problem has to be solved by the user and/or their IT/IS support resources as we cannot give advice on security settings.
