The nomographic chart can be used as a guide in selecting the correct hose size for a given hydraulic system.  The velocity of the fluid should not exceed the recommended ranges on the nomographic chart.  If velocity exceeds recommendations, turbulent conditions occur with an increase in pressure loss and heat.  With the known flow and pressure range, this graph can help select the right hose size.
